The Enigmatic Suffering of Objects

Just posted images from my thesis installation, “The Enigmatic Suffering of Objects,” at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Works include A Public Standing- Postponed, in which I used oils to paint the back-side of a found hall tree.
Portland-area artist and craftsman Dalton Paull helped me create An Alter using salvaged wood and heat-sensitive mechanisms. I painted the interior of An Alter using oils.
In Ocular Wear, I used oils to replicate Luis Melendez’s Still Life with Sea Bream and Oranges (1772). I transferred the painting onto wood, adding a magnifying glass on chain, and sliced through the paint to create an illusion of movement from the magnifying glass.
I also painted the undersides of a group of chairs in A Side-Splitting Bare By Her Batch of Chairs, Even, exposing the “private lives” of objects.
